The Breakup Kit 2

So not long after my little Break-up kit was delivered to me a friend of mine got broken up with... she was in this relationship for much longer than I was and so it was hitting her with some great force.

She was not eating or drinking, crying all the time and  hardly getting any sunlight or activity. This was quite worrying and so I decided to make up my own little survival kit filled with things that I thought were helpful/ necessary for one reason or the other and so I wrote a little letter and gathered the items.

Dear Zoe,
This is your very own breakup survival kit <3

Tissues – to remind you that it’s alright to cry
Juice & water – to make sure you drink fluids
Marshmallows – to remind you that you are sweet (also they are easy to eat)
Chocolate  - because it’s always good for recovery
Skittles – to brighten your sad days
Gum – to freshen up your life and keep your energy high
Socks – to remind you that your are crazy cool and it’s fine to wear pjs all day
Bubbles – to remind you that you are a bubbly princess, who makes us smile.
Journal - to write down your thoughts and stop thinking about them
Mug – to fill with warm foods/drinks and snuggle up with on cold nights
Teddy – to hug when you feel upset, to remind you that you are loved!

The Teddy in this little kit was the kind that you can write messages on and so I got all of our mutual friends (from a singing/performance group that we are both in) to sign it and send a little message her way.

Her response was awesome!! She nearly cried on the spot and was so happy to realise just how many people she had to support her. She started eating that day and she also smiled for the first time in a few days.. so a job well done :) Thanks to all those who wrote a little something for her!!

Love and Hugs,
Danismells xx

P.s. The message in the left hand corner of the photo is the message she sent me via text the following day

The Breakup Kit

So in my last post I wrote about my break up earlier that week.
Well later that same week and very lovely mate of mine put together a 'Break-up survival kit'.

The kit was mentioned at a rehearsals and I saw it from a distance but to be honest, I was completely overwhelmed by the amount of hugs and advice I was getting from everyone that I completely forgot to  pick up this mystery box/ bag.

Upon arriving home I realised that I had forgotten it and promptly contacted my friend to find out when I could retrieve it and what was actually inside. He told me that he thought it was a stupid idea after all and didn't want to embarrass himself by giving it to me, because it had really random stuff in it. I insisted then that he at least tell me what I was missing out on and why he had chose such 'random' items to add to the bag.

Here is the contents of the kit and the reasons why these items were added...

A box of tissues to let you know that it's ok to cry

There was a compass to help you find your way when you feel lost

There was a lion to remind you to be brave

There was a torch to help you when it gets dark
And matches because let's face it matches are always useful

Binoculars to help you see far into the future

There were sweets because hey...they're sweets

A poncho just because they're awesome

and finally: A 'Hand of the King' pin/broach because you are important and Game of Thrones is cool!

Not long after the gift giving, this friend admitted that he has had feelings for me since we first met (at which point I had just started dating the guy which the last post was about) but that he knows I do not feel the same way. This has not changed our friendship in the slightest... he is surely my best male friend and I would not exchange him for any other. It's also nice when you get a stream of compliments from a male friend... Don't you think?!  (Gosh I have the biggest head this year!!! )

Also also also, this survival kit is a lifelong one so when things run out they get replaced... woo hoo, lollies forever!!! :)

Love and Hugs xx
Dani

P.s. life after a break-up isn't so bad... it gets better... things get easier

Treasure Chest

1 year ago a boy stole my heart strings...
I fell in love with him, like I've never been in love before...
On Monday night we broke up...

He never read this because it was a gift for our 1 year... but
perhaps you will read it and then you'll know how I felt and why I loved this boy
I hope you also feel terribly sick at how disgustingly cheesy it is

This is a chest of 'loves'. It has been made by a heart that holds you dearly. These 'loves' are a combination of physical features, mannerisms, circumstantial and trivial situations that I love about you. The hope is that these 'loves' will make you smile, laugh, wonder and understand how I feel about you. They should also make you feel as special as you make me feel

Miss miss miss

So i've been massively MIA lately... but hey, i'm here now.. right?!

I completed my first uni degree (B of Music) and have since moved on to my next venture [just had a moment of woah venture is like adventure without the ad... i'll stop now] in life... that of teaching.

So at the beginning of the year whilst waiting for paperwork to be corrected/ updated... I tried to figure out what to do with my life.

To fill in some time and see if my love of theatre was still there I joined a musical society and boy oh boy was my love still there. This year I've been in two productions with this society and I've just auditioned for the next one... fingers crossed i'll get into this small cast of 23 (6 of which are dancers and I am not).

Midway through the year I thought hey I can't do nothing forever, as much as I like having time to myself... it's pretty ridiculous to not have a job and just be wasting my time away at 21. SOOOOOO I set off to uni again, teaching this time (masters) and I loved  it... dead set, super content and so happy to actually be using my noggin again.

To top that, after months of job searching, when I returned to uni I was hired by a tutoring company and so I began tutoring on the side. Tutoring is pretty darn fulfilling, not only do I feel awesome for teaching people who don't know quite how to do things but i'm also teaching/learning myself again all the things that I once knew but had pretty much forgotten (Yay for maths, I seriously love it... what is wrong with me).

Anywho at present I'm on prac or Practicum as it should be called, I'm with Kindy and they are pretty much super cute. Much to the dismay of sooo many, I'm not really enjoying myself... I don't think I really want to do this as a career, especially not for the rest of my life but hey I could do casual while i'm figuring out what should be next.

Today in school we had to have our photos taken for part of a Christmas prep thing and so naturally I posed with a great big smile... later on in the day I was given a copy of my photos and some of the students had a bit of a peak, they were all really surprised saying "hey miss look you are smiling!!" my first thought was yeah, what, of course i'm smiling. Then they insisted that I smile like the picture and so I did and they seemed super shocked/excited... It was in that moment that I realised I'm not smiling in class and so the children don't even know what my happy face looks like - is that not heart wrenching?!
Normally I'm so happy and smiley that people are annoyed but in this case I hadn't shown any of my good/happy smiles.  :(

But that's about all I can spit up today... Also I can't wait for the next post.. i've got some news to fill you in on AND obviously whether or not I got into the new production :)

The Girls

As promised, a post for the girls about the girls :P
again in no particular order

The Photographer
Julie was there for the entire trip, documenting every single moment on camera of course, from the Popes arrival to our games nights, nothing was to be missed... not even us sleeping pilgrims. When she wasn't snapping shots, she could be found talking to giggle gutz or praying somewhere in deep concentration. This girl is someone who sees the world through a different lens, she could find a way to capture your soul and preserve it in all it's glory. She's a bubbly, enthusiastic but sometime contemplative person and I couldn't have thought of a better friend to make the trip with.

The Loud Girl
Melinda, oh where do I start with this one, she knows everyone and can retain basically every bit of information that's mentioned about anyone else. I've named her the loud girl because she is exactly that.. if ever you become lost with her, it wouldn't be long before you were found... all she has to do was open her mouth and we all know where she is. Not only was she loud when awake but also when asleep *snores* granted she did have a terrible cold that loud night but still, who knew! She's not all about the talking and the attention, she's actually a wonderful listener and very good with advice, she's the first to notice when something is not quite right and is there with a joke or story to correct your sadness.

The Vegetarian
Jacinta was in someways the life of the party, sometimes intentionally, most times by default. The default attention came on the second week of the trip... if you've been to Spain before you'd know that their main diet consists of meat and bread, bread and meat and some more bread, by the second week poor Jacinta was running low on energy, iron and just about anything you can think of.. so after a few fainting spells she was indeed the centre of attention. Apart from this she is a simply hilarious woman, who could honestly talk to you for several hours about nothing or anything or whatever you please and when this time is up you'll feel well informed about the world and it's many wonders. To this day I can't help but smile when I see her cheery face even though she hates photos and her pterodactyl face always makes me laugh.

The Musician
Mary Gale, the violinist, this girl is simply as quiet as a mouse and has a heart of GOLD... literally and angel in my eyes and her beautiful music filled our trip with song and dance, particularly the airport terminal jigs! This lovely girl is in fact on the road to the sisterhood.. leaving for the US very soon!

The Wonderer
Mary E, the leader of my group and yet the last to arrive at every destination. It was her first time overseas and so it was understandable that she simply felt the need to stop every 5 seconds and take a picture of the surroundings. Another quite one to add to the bunch, but could pack a punch of authority when needed. She's became a sister and a friend to us al by the end of the trip and her voice often filled the chapels with song.

The Love-Bird (1)
Shelby, the other half of the love birds, a simply gorgeous girl.. no kidding I don't think she ever had a hair out of place and she has the most lovely skin coughsuperjealouscough. This girl was on the lookout for everyone and anyone at all times, she was all about getting to things on time with the right clothing and supplies and with enough time to return back before the next activity but not at all in a controlling way. When she wasn't helping one of us out she could be found with her boyfriend, being cute and stuff.

The Face-puller

Clair is a girl of very many faces, for someone that was home-schooled she sure knows knows how to make a group crack up, also for someone so gentle and seemingly quiet you don't every really expect her random photo-bombing. This girl could also be known as the lucky one, out of all the very many people who came to Madrid for WYD and out of those many thousands who are from Australia and even Sydney- she managed to score the most awesome deal... A meal with THE POPE as in the big guy, yes Le Pope, how lucky?!?!?! But honestly they couldn't have chosen a more humble, kind hearted and loving person to represent us all!

The Sister in Christ
Sister Rachel, ohh she is so sweet and believe it or not, really down to earth. I'm pretty sure she surprised a lot of us with how in-tune and up-to-date she was with everything that was happening with us the "youth" (as i'm writing this and re-reading it I keep making the " " gesture with my hands- i'm so weird ). So after my breakdown @ the Vatican, she was there to comfort me with many words of reassurance and wisdom, that set me at rest in the craziness of it all. Our bus rides and conversations of marriage and the sisterhood have not been forgotten and will not for a great deal of time.

The Quiet Girl
Hazel was probably one of the quietest on the trip, I often forgot she was there until she popped up in photos or in the kitchen in the morning for breakfast. If ever she spoke it was only ever a nice comment or a short and sweet line of wisdom drawn from who knows where. Indeed she is a very kind and open person, who probably wouldn't mind listening to you and never shutting you up.

The Mum
Chrissy, our second mother and when I say this, i'm not kidding in the slightest, she cared for us as any mother would.. as though we were all her 1st borns. She has a laugh that could tear down a building and bring down a house, in the nicest way possible, honestly you could hear her laughter for miles if you needed to... and if you didn't, well i'm sorry but you'd still be hearing it. This lovely woman has the heart of a thousand and would never leave you in the dark, or cold, or out of the loop if it was in her power.

The Lost Girl

Kate is our little lost girl, we met her basically at the end of our journey and although the time spent together was not long, we adopted her as though she were family. Kate is a cute, fun, giggly girl from England who was left out in the heat after we were all sent away from the final masses of WYD. We took her in with her brother and a few friends and gave them a home in our accommodation, spent the evening playing games and sleeping on the floor.

So that's the girls... only took me like 1 yr to write this brief reflection... good job Elle! :P
